Feel good footy raises funds for flood victims

The footy was fierce, but the feeling was friendly at Mustangs Brothers Rugby League Football Club when teams from the City of Logan and surrounds took to the field in support of local flood victims.
The Charity Flood Appeal, spearheaded by Councillor Scott Bannan, raised $12,000 in March.
Five clubs — Mustangs, Jimboomba Thunder, Beaudesert Kingfishers, Greenbank Raiders and Souths Sunnybank — took part in the all-day competition.
Cr Bannan says more than 1,500 people attended.
‘It was fantastic to get our community together for a bit of fun, a bit of footy and a whole lot of fundraising,’ Cr Bannan says.
‘Some of the funds raised went to the Logan Village Lions Club to help repair its truck, which broke down while members were supporting flood victims.
‘The remainder has gone to local charity, Defenders for Hope, who went above and beyond providing shelter and support packages for residents.’
The event was also supported by Federal MPs Bert van Manen (Forde) and Scott Buchholz (Wright) and State MPs Linus Power (Logan) and Jon Krause (Scenic Rim).
