Tourism brand launched
The City of Logan is positioning itself as an emerging tourism destination.
Logan City Council has launched a new tourism destination brand – Explore Logan.
Explore Logan will introduce visitors to the best the city has to offer, from a thriving art scene to a menu of culinary experiences, and a passion for sport and adventure.
There are also hidden gems like historical sites and one-of-a-kind markets as visitors are urged to ‘experience different’.
Economic Development Chair Deputy Mayor Jon Raven urges visitors and day trippers in South East Queensland to look beyond Brisbane and the Gold Coast.
‘Locals know that our city is full of hidden gems. We’ve got authentic and unique experiences for visitors, just waiting to be discovered,’ Cr Raven says.
‘With the 2032 Olympics approaching, we want to spread the word so everyone can enjoy all that Logan has to offer.’
Caterers Thom and Ann’s, who operate food trucks and coffee vans throughout Logan and the Gold Coast, look forward to the influx of visitors.
‘It will allow us to retain our staff, grow our profile and engage with the community,’ director Fiona Roebig says.
The new tourism destination brand complements City of Logan’s plan to capitalise on the cuisines of its diverse communities.
Council developed the Logan Food Tourism Development Plan in 2020.
It showcased venues like the Global Food Markets at Logan Central, which were beamed across the world when celebrity chef Ainsley Harriot visited.
He says the Global Food Markets reminded him of some of London’s farmers’ markets.
Other foodie attractions in the City of Logan include Beenleigh Artisan Distillery, Kiwanda Café, Sugar Creek Smokehouse and a range of ethnic cuisine restaurants in suburbs including Springwood, Slacks Creek and Woodridge.
The world-class BMX track at Doug Larsen Park and mountain bike tracks at Cornubia and Daisy Hill satisfy visitors’ thirst for adventure.
An associated competition is offering the ultimate Logan explorer pass valued at $2699.
It includes a karting session for four people at Kingston Park Raceway, and a wakeboarding experience at Bayside Wakepark, Carbrook.
The competition closes at noon on Thursday, April 28.
