Volunteer awards open

Nominate a hero volunteer now

Nominations are open for volunteer awards that recognise residents who help make the City of Logan tick.

Logan City Council is calling for nominations for the Frank Lenz Memorial Award for Volunteer of the Year, and the Davida Steele Memorial Award for an Outstanding Community Organisation.

Nominees must be Logan residents or organisations, and must be aware they are being nominated.

City Lifestyle Chair, Councillor Laurie Koranski, said volunteers were integral to the fabric of the city.

“Volunteers are the lifeblood of the City of Logan,” Cr Koranski said.

“Whether it’s vital support during a natural disaster, as we have seen recently, or behind the scenes to ensure the on-field success of a sporting club, each volunteer plays a crucial role.

“These annual awards are an ideal way to recognise them and their efforts.”

Council has recognised the outstanding contribution of individuals and organisations since 1988.

This year is the first time Logan Village SES volunteer Chelsea Grewcoe has been nominated.

Chelsea, a Buccan resident, said she was “very honoured” to be recognised.

The benefits of volunteering were huge, she said.

“I love to get out and help people, and see the results,” Chelsea said.

“And I’ve made some amazing friendships while volunteering with the SES.”

The nomination form is at Logan Loves Volunteers 2022 – Logan City Council.

Winners will be announced at the Logan Loves Volunteers Brunch for nominees and their families on Saturday, May 28.

Nominations close at midnight on April 29.
