Revved up for 25 years
Kingston Park Raceway is a true Logan icon.
For 26 years, it’s been a hit for locals and visitors with a thirst for adrenaline, a need for speed, and a love of the race.
And it just keeps getting better. Guests can now enjoy the park’s brand new fleet of Sodi Race Karrts on the 1,100-metre international standard Le Mans circuit.
Sales and marketing manager Clayton McLeod has worked at the raceyway for more than 2 years, and says the excitement of a busy day on the tracks never really fades away.
‘My office looks out over the track and it’s a great view that’s for sure, it never loses its novelty,’ he says.
‘I think we appeal to everyone. We see a massive, broad mix of people on our 2 tracks.
‘We have our kids and family track, where we have birthday parties, other family celebrations, then our die-hard racers and motorsport fans, and our race events.
‘The big thing we are proud to offer is an authentic experience. We are outdoors, on asphalt, with petrol karts so you get that smell of fuel, burning rubber – it is as close to professional racing as you’ll get.
‘We also have a wide track so we can have up to 25 people on the main track at the same time.’
The venue, which was bought by iPay in 2019, has around 30 people running a space that brings joy to thousands of people each year. Most people who live in Logan and the surrounding areas will have at least one memory of a Kingston Park celebration – whether a kids’ birthday, work function, or weekend with friends.
‘We listen really closely to all the feedback we get and try to cater for everyone of every level of experience,’ Clayton says.
‘Our party teams are great, and deal really well with kids and adults who might be a bit more timid or cautious. We get glowing reviews about how they spend time giving one-on-one attention, and we can even have staff members in our dual karts with people who are nervous to begin with.
‘In the end, they feel confident and empowered and generally want to give it a go themselves. That’s always good to see.’
