Queensland’s biggest seafood pop-up is returning for the season and is known for spectacularly fresh oysters, scallops, prawns and more. Open between 16 April and 20 April at Springwood Central State School,8 am to 2 pm, you can lug a seafood haul home for lunch or stick around and scarf down a dozen oysters while you’re there.
The quality of oysters is formidable at Fishboi in Springwood Mall, which is known for its oyster tank where live oysters are shucked per order. You can gobble these up in multiple ways: raw or drizzled with decadent Swiss cheese, creamy spinach or with bacon and Worcestershire sauce. Other options on its vast menu include the usual fish and chip shop favourites, along with various platters that come crumbed, charcoal grilled or chilled. And if you dare to be different, there is also a fish parma!
This beloved Loganholme institution has been a longtime favourite among locals for a reason: a no-frills setup with plenty of seating, good ol’ fashioned hospitality and what some say are the best fish and chips in town. The menu is chock-full of fan favourites, from perfectly fried cod, snapper, red trout emperor and potato scallops to hearty burgers – all available to eat in or takeaway.
Underwood Seafood Market – Underwood
Popular with the locals, here you can find a range of fresh whole fish, Australian caught prawns, and frozen choices if that suits your meal planning better. With easy parking, this is well known throughout the Springwood/Underwood area.
Prepare your dining delight early and pre-order from this Loganholme establishment offering up a seafood range including their specialty of premium southern pacific oysters, sea scallops, Moreton Bay Bugs and a selection of line-caught fish they catch themselves on a weekly basis, not to mention tubs of smoked salmon pearls and salmon caviar, and smokey fish chowder. You can also pop in when they open Thursday to Saturday.
Get your fill of New Zealand flavours this Easter here with yumbo fish and chips to raw potted seafood. Drop in or order online and if you are in the mood for mussels, dive in for some raw mussel, mussels and cream bread, marinated mussels or a mussel fritter.
Woodridge Seafood Lovers – Slacks Creek
Dine in or takeaway but make sure you taste test some treats along with your usual fish and chips, from prawn parcels to crab claws and the great tasting crumbed calamari.
If you are thinking big, then the Kickin’ Banquet for up to 12 people could be your catch of the day, with whole lobsters, swimmer crabs, prawns and the list goes on and on.
