Another nod for popular KBF

Kingston Butter Factory is the People’s Choice – again!

The community has spoken and the result is clear – the Kingston Butter Factory (KBF) Cultural Precinct remains Queensland’s accessible entertainment venue of choice.

The City of Logan’s largest entertainment venue was named ‘Accessible Venue of the Year’ as part of the People’s Choice category last night’s 2024 Queensland Music Awards.

It is the second consecutive year that the venue, which includes a ground-floor theatre, an outdoor stage, a museum and a community-focussed art gallery, has earned the accolade.

City of Logan Mayor Jon Raven said the KBF Cultural Precinct was now on the ‘must-do’ list for entertainment buffs and families thanks to its wide range of offerings which include concerts, shows, markets and special occasions.

“Our KBF Cultural Precinct was designed to make live entertainment and cultural experiences accessible and easy for everyone,” Cr Raven said.

“We are incredibly proud to see it recognised a second time by the community for its accessibility features, which have struck a chord with everyone since it opened in early 2022.”

The KBF Cultural Precinct’s accessibility features include:

• A Hush Room (a soundproof area) with direct viewing to the indoor Butterbox Theatre. This space caters to patrons with small children, or sensory needs.
• A Changing Places facility on the ground floor which includes larger-than-standard toilets, an adult-sized changing table, a ceiling hoist, a peninsular toilet, a privacy screen and additional circulation space for wheelchairs.
• Disability parking and flat access to and around the Precinct.
• A ramp to and from the adjacent Kingston Railway Station.
• Inclusive venue information provided online via the Cérge platform, which acts a ‘digital concierge’: app/inclusivevenue/Kingston-Butter-Factory-Cultural-Precinct

Accessible programming is also regularly featured at the KBF Cultural Precinct.

A theatrical workshop series for neurodivergent artists, or those living with a disability, commenced its second season at the venue this week.

Local musical talent was also lauded at last night’s awards, with Samoan artist Taitu’uga, who grew up in the City of Logan, claiming the ‘World’ award for his song Falealili Manusamoa.
