Book now for holiday fun

Free and low-cost options galore

Boredom will be kept at bay these coming school holidays with painting, bushwalking skills, robotics, adventure writing and pottery workshops among the activities on offer in the City of Logan.

Action-packed activity programs will be offered by Logan Libraries, Logan Art Gallery and the KRANK School Holiday Program during April.

The city’s libraries will host free, fun events and activities for teens and younger children including craft, robotics, LEGO and adventure-writing sessions.

Children can learn how to create their own felt animal bookmark and paper characters to take home.

There will also be sessions on how to make dreamcatcher looms and phone charms from air-dry clay.

Eight to 14-year-olds can learn how to build and code a robot using one of LEGO’s latest robotics applications Spike Prime.

To mark National Youth Week (April 7-13), the libraries will also launch free loans of Sphero robots.

Library users can then borrow these robots on an ongoing basis.

To help those 10 years and over learn more about the robots, workshops will be held at Beenleigh, Logan West, Jimboomba, Logan North, Marsden and Logan Central libraries between Tuesday, April 9 and Friday, April 12.

Each workshop participant can borrow the Sphero robot they use in the session through their library membership card to allow them to keep learning and playing with them at home.

Bookings are essential for the library’s holiday program and can be made via

The KRANK School Holiday Program, featuring activities for children from 5 to 17-years-old, runs from Tuesday, April 2 until Sunday, April 14.

A new KRANK activity these school holidays is the painting in the garden sessions for 5 to 17-year-olds in Jimboomba Community Garden on Sunday, April 7 and Saturday, April 13.

School holiday workshops will be held at Logan Art Gallery to tie in with the new exhibitions being launched there this Friday (March 8).

Artist Fiona West will host two different optical animation workshops on Tuesday, April 9.
