Council services holiday hours

Essential services available over holidays

City of Logan residents can access Council’s essential services during the holidays, although hours of operation at some venues will change.

Residents can use Council’s online services to report Council matters, apply for approvals, or pay rates or bills over the holiday period.

Opening hours for Council’s various venues and facilities are listed below.

Monday, December 26; Tuesday, December 27, and Monday, January 2 are public holidays in the City of Logan.

Customer Service Centres (Logan Central, Beenleigh, Jimboomba):

Council’s customer service centres will be open normal hours on weekdays that are not public holidays.

In an emergency, Council can be contacted on its 24-hour customer service line (3412 3412).

Pools, water play areas, gyms and parks:

Council pools and gyms will be closed on Christmas Day (Sunday, December 25), Boxing Day (Monday, December 26) and New Year’s Day (Sunday, January 1), but some will reopen on the other public holidays.

Opening hours for each facility varies. For details go to Logan Leisure Centres.

Mount Warren Sports Centre will be closed for maintenance from Monday, December 19 to Tuesday, December 27. InSports members can use inSports’ other centres (Logan Metro and Logan North) during this time.

The water play areas at Logan Gardens (Logan Central), Darlington Park (Yarrabilba) and the Flagstone Water Play Park (Undullah) will operate during normal hours over the holiday period.

All Council parks and their facilities will remain open as normal unless otherwise indicated.

Libraries:

Council’s nine libraries will be open during normal hours on those days that are not public holidays.

Free resources including books, games and magazines to suit all ages are available 24/7 through Council’s eLibrary, which can be accessed via Logan Libraries.

A library membership number and password are required to log in.

Non-members can join online at Logan Libraries.

Logan Art Gallery:

Logan Art Gallery is closed from Christmas Day (Sunday, December 25) until it reopens on normal hours on Tuesday, January 3.

Mayes Cottage:

Mayes Cottage is closed from Christmas Day (Sunday, December 25) until it reopens on normal hours on Thursday, January 5.

Living Museum of Logan:

Living Museum of Logan at the Kingston Butter Factory is closed from Saturday, December 23 until it reopens on normal hours on Tuesday, January 3.

Waste and recycling facilities:

Council’s waste and recycling facilities will be open during normal hours (7am until 5.30pm) on all days except Christmas Day (Sunday, December 25) and New Year’s Day (Sunday, January 1).

The Logan Recycling Market will close for 2022 on Monday, December 19. It will reopen at 10am on Friday, January 20, 2023.

Council’s general waste, recycling, and green waste wheelie bin services will continue to operate as per normal schedules. Bins will be picked up on residents’ usual collection days and times irrespective of public holidays.

Animal Management Centre:

The Animal Management Centre will be closed between Christmas Day (Sunday, December 25) and Tuesday, December 27.

It will also be closed for New Year’s Day (Sunday, January 1) and on Monday, January 2.

The Centre will operate on normal hours outside of these dates (Monday to Friday: 8.30am to 4.30pm; Saturday: 9am until 2pm).

Lost cats or dogs found outside of business hours can be placed in Council’s holding pens, at the Animal Management Centre, 213 Queens Road, Kingston.

The after-hours holding pens are not suitable for sick or injured animals or wildlife. Contact your local vet or the RSPCA Emergency Hotline: 1300 ANIMAL (1300 264 625).

Council’s Animal Management after-hours emergency response service (3412 3412) will operate 24/7 over the holidays.

Logan Entertainment Centre (LEC) and Kingston Butter Factory (KBF) Cultural Precinct:

The LEC will be close on Monday, December 19 and will reopen on Monday, January 23.

The KBF Cultural Precinct will be closed from 4pm on Friday, December 23. It will reopen at 10am on Tuesday, January 10. The KBF Cultural Precinct includes:

  • The Kingston Butter Factory
  • The Living Museum of Logan
  • The Devon Pixies Teahouse Café
  • The Logan City Historical Museum

The box office at both venues will be closed for in-person and phone sales from Monday, December 19 until Monday, January 9. Tickets for upcoming performances will be available online during this period.

Phone sales will resume on Monday, January 9, while in-person sales will resume on their respective reopening dates (above).

Community venues:

The following community venues will be closed from Monday, December 19 until Monday, January 9:

  • Underwood Park Hall
  • Logan West Community Centre
  • Beenleigh Events Centre (two pre-booked events will proceed during the closed period)

Phone bookings can be made until Friday, December 23.

Immunisation services:

Council immunisation services will end for 2022 on Saturday, December 17. The first clinics for 2023 will begin on Wednesday, January 4. For a full schedule go to: Immunisation – Logan City Council
