Flood recovery update

Flood recovery transition continues

As the City of Logan community continues to clean-up from the recent severe weather and flooding, a new phase in the recovery process is underway.

The Jimboomba Recovery Hub at Caddies Community Centre will permanently close this afternoon while the hubs at the Beenleigh PCYC in Alamein St and Kingston East Neighbourhood Group (KENG) in Kingston will continue operating until 4pm on Friday,
April 8.

The three recovery hubs were opened by the Queensland Government to provide financial assistance and support services for impacted residents.

They have provided a place for residents to talk to community recovery workers, receive referrals for community organisations and other government agencies and apply for hardship grants.

City of Logan Mayor Darren Power said hundreds of people had been supported over the past month by the hubs.

“They have acted as a one-stop shop to help affected residents and businesses begin to piece their lives back together,” he said.

Cr Power said the closure of the hubs did not mean that support was no longer available for impacted residents and businesses in the City of Logan.

“Council will continue working with the Queensland and Federal Governments and local agencies to support the community as it recovers.”

Support is available through the Community Recovery Hotline – 1800 173 349 – or online at Community Recovery

An extensive list of contact information to support community well-being and the local recovery is also available on Council’s website. Go to: Flood community support

Other flood recovery-related developments in the City of Logan include:

  • Council has endorsed a flood recovery package that supports ratepayers, small business and the environment. It includes a $250 rebate for those residential properties (homes) inundated by riverine flooding. Go to Flood community support – Logan City Council.
  • Applications for Council’s Small Business Recovery and Reinvigoration Fund can be lodged at Smartygrants – Small Business Recovery
  • Collection of waste from flood-impacted properties is continuing and the interrupted scheduled kerbside clean-up has resumed.
