KBF Party to celebrate City

Logan pride powers free Kingston Butter Factory party

City of Logan residents have taste-tested the Kingston Butter Factory (KBF) Cultural Precinct’s exciting entertainment menu in recent weeks, and now it is time to appreciate the full-bodied flavour of the thrilling new venue.

The KBF Cultural Precinct will be celebrated in spectacular style on Saturday, April 30, and the community is invited to join the party for free.

Popular Logan-raised artist Chris Tamwoy will headline the KBF Launch Party, which will also pay tribute to the City of Logan’s proud cultural identity.

Local artists including singer-songwriter Tania Rose Gibuma, the Imanzi Rwandan Cultural group, Heilani Productions, LUATÈ, MR.MR, the 4114 collective and Te Tai Mauri will also perform with a variety of musical, dance, visual and spoken word performances.

City Lifestyle Chair Councillor Laurie Koranski said the community celebration would be the beginning of a bright and bold new future for the historic site.

“Logan City Council’s transformation of the iconic Kingston Butter Factory has given the venue a new lease on life,” Cr Koranski said.

“Since the opening of the outdoor precinct earlier this year, our community has relished the chance to come together and to be entertained in this fantastic new space.

“What better way to celebrate this bold new venue than with a fantastic outdoor showcase by some of the City of Logan’s most talented artists.”

Public transport is recommended for the event, as limited general parking will be available onsite. Disability parking will be available.

KBF Launch Party ticket holders can travel for free on Queensland Rail services. Trains will arrive at and depart from Kingston Station, which is next door to the KBF Cultural Precinct.

Train timetables are available on the TransLink website, or by calling 13 12 30.

A free shuttle bus will also operate from the Logan Entertainment Centre carpark on the evening.

The KBF Launch Party is from 5.30pm until 10pm on April 30. The entertainment starts at 6.30pm.

This is an alcohol and pet-free event. Food and drink will be available from a variety of food trucks.

Entry is free, but registration is essential at KBF Cultural Precinct Launch Party.

More information on the KBF Launch Party and other upcoming events is available on the new Logan Arts website – loganarts.com.au.

The KBF Cultural Precinct is located at 270 Jacaranda Avenue in Kingston.
