School holiday offerings

Banish holiday boredom with library fun

City of Logan children, teens and young adults can keep busy during the April school holidays with free in-person and online activities at Logan Libraries.

International best-selling manga and comic book writer and artist Queenie Chan will host online sessions for kids, teens and adults including:

  • Animation for beginners with Pixilart.com – Participants ages 12 and over will learn how to use the free website Pixilart.com to create simple animation.
  • Self-publishing manga or books for beginners – Teens and adults learn how to publish books or comics in print and e-book format and sell it online.
  • How to plan and write a short comic through a writing workshop for teens and adults offering some simple tips and tricks on planning a story.

Young job seekers are invited to take part in free online Digital Springboard sessions from 1.30pm to 3pm on Thursday, April 7 and Thursday, April 14.

Aimed at 14 to 18-year-olds, the sessions will teach participants how to build their CV from scratch or refresh their existing one and offer tips for before, during and after interviews.

Popular local author and illustrator Dr Cameron Stelzer is returning these school holidays to host in-person and online drawing, design and watercolour illustration workshops for kids, teens and adults.

City of Logan author Belinda Topan will host a hands-on creative writing workshop for ages 10 and over.

During the Australian Heritage Festival, between Friday, April 1 and Tuesday, May 31, watercolour painting or drawing workshops will be held in the grounds of the heritage-listed Mayes Cottage during the school holidays.

Logan’s libraries will be closed for the Easter long weekend between Friday, April 15 and Monday, April 19, reopening on Tuesday, April 19.

They will also be closed on Monday, April 25 for Anzac Day.
