School pick-up and drop-off made easier
Upgrades improve road safety at local schools
Students and parents at two City of Logan schools will benefit from a boost in safety following the completion of roadworks in the coming weeks.
Works began in December on streets around Logan Village State School to reduce congestion during drop-off and pick-up times.
The upgrade at Storey Rd and Manuka Rd has included:
- a new footpath on Storey Rd from the school drop-off zone to Manuka Rd and a wider path from the drop-off zone to North St
- widened sections on both roads
- new on-street parking lanes on both sides of Storey Rd as well as new parking layouts in front of the school
- new stormwater infrastructure and kerbing
- new road signs.
The project is funded by the Queensland Government’s South East Queensland Community Stimulus Program in association with Logan City Council.
Meanwhile, new traffic signals are being installed near Marsden State High School to improve traffic flow and travel times, as well as boosting safety for vehicles, bike riders and pedestrians.
The new signals will be installed in the left-hand turning lane from Muchow Rd into Chambers Flat Rd, while pram ramps and concrete islands in the intersection will also be improved.
Both projects are due to be completed by the end of April.
