Students showcase their art skills for the environment

Environment-inspired work by arty students will be seen by residents across City of Logan next year.

Logan City Council’s 2023 World Environment Day calendar will feature drawings done by the students as part of an ‘Our Green City’ poster competition.

Mayor Darren Power and Councillors presented the winners of the competition with certificates and prize packs at LEAF (Logan Eco Action Festival) on Sunday.

They included Mayor’s Choice winners, Zachary Jacobs (St Edwards Catholic Primary School) and Emily McIntosh (Windaroo State School).

Zachary’s work will adorn the front of the calendar.

“The artwork from the competition winners was outstanding, and it was a tough choice to narrow it down this year,” Cr Power said.

The theme of the competition encouraged entrants to explore how the City of Logan had become a leader in environmental initiatives.

LEAF, Queensland’s largest sustainability festival, attracted thousands at Meadowbrook on Sunday.

Popular Gardening Australia presenter Costa Georgiadis headlined the annual event.
