Vax plan goes public
Community feedback sought on vaccination plan
Logan City Council is seeking community feedback on a strategy which sets out the city’s immunisation plan for the next four years.
A highlight of the proposed Draft Immunisation Strategy 2022-2025 will be a comprehensive immunisation program for City of Logan residents through 11 community clinics.
The clinics will be at:
- Flagstone Community Centre
- Jimboomba Library
- Greenbank State School
- Browns Plains Early Years Centre
- Yarrabilba Family and Community Place
- Logan Central Library
- Crestmead PCYC
- Springwood Child Health Care Centre
- Beenleigh Library
- Marsden Library
- Logan Hyperdome Library
The strategy will also deliver weekly clinics at Logan Hospital and outreach immunisation services at the homes of people referred to Council who have difficulty attending a clinic.
Drop-in influenza clinics, that target medically at-risk people, will be conducted at six community venues during April each year.
A school immunisation program will be available for secondary students in City of Logan and Redlands.
City of Logan Mayor Darren Power said the strategy was a comprehensive plan to better protect the city’s residents from diseases that are easily prevented through immunisation.
“We are committed to delivering community-based immunisation in a safe and effective way to protect everyone in our community,” Cr Power said.
“We saw how well Logan residents rallied to get immunised during the pandemic and we need to continue that approach to many other important immunisations, particularly those for young children.”
Customer feedback showed Council’s immunisation program enjoys a 96 per cent satisfaction rate.
Vaccinations in the City of Logan have risen by 20 per cent since 2018 under Council’s strategy.
“That’s clear proof that we are doing things right and this new strategy aims to build on that strong community support,” Cr Power said.
