A turbocharged family business

In Underwood, motorcycles are a family affair.

Founded by 1987 Australian Superbike champion Tony Armstrong, Motorcycles R Us is a motorcycle dealership that offers specialist knowledge, a customer-first approach, and a sense of camaraderie.

The business, now in its 42nd year, is led by Tony’s son Anthony.

What started as a small workshop for Suzuki motorcycles has expanded into a multi-franchise dealership with additional brands like KTM, Ducati and GASGAS.

As well as selling new and used motorcycles, Motorcycles R Us also operates a servicing department and a fully-fledged café.

‘We’re very supported in the area by locals and wanted to grow with the industry,’ Anthony says.

‘We’re one of the largest motorcycle dealerships in the country and one of the few that are still independent and family-run.

‘We treat our customers like family and not just a number.’

The team is as passionate about customer service as it is about motorcycles, with customers flocking to the store for advice or a chat while admiring the showroom.

The café, aptly named Tony’s Café, has also nurtured the vibrant riding culture in Logan.

It has become the designated meet-up spot for various riding groups, where motorcyclists congregate for coffee and breakfast before heading out for a group ride.

‘It’s an awesome community that has supported us from back then until now,’ Anthony says.

Motorcycles R Us in the present day.

Anthony, who was born the day after his father won the 1987 Superbike Championship, grew up watching his father performing tricks and working on motorcycles.

And although he had the choice, he never considered any other career besides continuing his father’s work.

‘I have my own family now and my kids are doing the same thing I did,’ he says.

‘It’s been the same community and same customers since I was 3 years old, except now their kids are being helped by me instead of my father.

‘It’s a great way to grow up.’
