Cane toad busting
Get ready for a hands-on session where you’ll get the opportunity to play a part in reducing cane toad numbers and protecting our local biodiversity! Cane toads are unfortunately common across Logan – causing declines in native wildlife, poisoning domestic pets, and having negative impacts on our local ecosystems and agricultural industries.
Experts from Watergum will guide you through how to identify cane toads at different stages of their lifecycle, and ways to safely and humanely capture them. You’ll also learn all about the ecological impact of this pest species in your own backyard, ways to toad proof your home, and how to create habitat for native frogs and other wildlife.
This event is ideal for families, frog and nature enthusiasts, and anyone interested in working together to make a positive impact in their local area.
The Great Cane Toad Bust is Australia’s biggest toad bust! For one week, from the 18-26 January, we are challenging Australians to tadpole trap by day and toad bust by night. Want to join in 2025? Find out more and register here.
