Bursaries help tertiary students reach their potential
Students need to focus on the bright future ahead – not on worry about the price of books.
That’s why Logan students about to embark on tertiary education have the opportunity to apply for a City of Logan Tertiary Education Bursary.
These bursaries provide $5000 over 3 years to offset the costs of attending university, and are designed to encourage more Year 12 students to consider university as an option.
More than 100 students have been supported by these bursaries since they were established with solicitors Corrs Chambers Westgarth in 1996.
Mayor Darren Power said he wanted to encourage young people with bright futures into university study.
“We have some of the brightest minds here in the City of Logan and money should not be a barrier for someone to reach their potential, especially if they’ve demonstrated academic excellence during their high school years,” he says.
“These bursaries can be used to buy textbooks, stationery or other essential items, taking some of the pressure off so they can focus on their studies instead.”
The bursaries are open to City of Logan students completing Year 12 locally and intending to attend university in Queensland in 2022.
Applications close on December 3 2021.
