Munster invests in local jobs
A growing Division 3 business is proving the best measure of success is how it is shared with others.
Slacks Creek-based Munster Services Group was named 2021 Business of the Year at the recent Logan Business Distinction Awards.
It received the accolade not only for achievements in the water and manufacturing sectors, but for bringing local jobseekers along for the ride.
Munster currently supports 30 apprentices in specialties including engineering, fitting and turning, boiler-making, electrical and project management.
Among those planning a future with Munster is recent Mabel Park State High School graduate, Masae Swann, who is the company’s first female boiler-making apprentice.
“Collaboration between business and schools highlights the strength of our community,” Councillor Mindy Russell says.
“I love seeing a local business backing Logan’s kids to make sure they are skilled and getting great local opportunities.”
Managing Director, Eric Guthrie, started Munster in 2008, performing fitting and turning work “out the back of a ute”. Today, he employs more than 100 people.
“We have the best people, and through investment in training we know we’re equipping them for today and in their future career pathways,” he says.
