Bloodline dancers wow the world
Logan’s hip hop dancers from the Bloodline Dance Company are on top of the world after competing in the US against more than 4,000 dancers from 55 countries.
Three Bloodline teams, comprising 60 elite dancers aged between 10 and 27, worked tirelessly all throughout 2024 to fundraise for the trip.
They held their heads high on the international stage in August to represent their city at the World Hip Hop Dance Championships in Phoenix, Arizona.
The Junior team, known as Hardknockz, placed 10th in the world, the Junior Varsity team, called Bloodline JV, placed 16th and the Mega Crew team, known as Bloodline Mega, placed 9th.
Kisa Matautia says the event is the largest hip hop competition in the world and the teams’ results are ‘amazing’.
‘They are now ranked with these placements in the world, which is huge – Bloodline Dance Company is also Queensland defending champion for the Junior and Mega crew divisions,’ Kisa says.
She says the family-owned and operated dance company teaches dance to all levels, from beginners to elite, for all ages and diverse cultures, which includes Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders, Pacific Nations, and Australian peoples.
