This market is a favourite with the local African community and for good reason. From spices and herbs to organic beauty products, Douty African Market has it all. It’s also a  destination for textile enthusiasts as the store boasts a vibrant array of quality fabrics, many which are sourced from Holland and China. The most popular items here are South African maize and palm oil for cooking.

Hamid Bakery

Locals flock to this bakery for lavash, a thin flatbread traditionally baked in a tandoor oven, which is sold in the hundreds every week. Beyond its lavash, Hamid Bakery is famous for bolani, Afghani cakes, doughnuts and baklava. Owner Hamid also cooks up a delicious chickpea, barley and goat soup which is great for dipping lavash into.

Modest African Shop

Your one-stop-shop for African goods, from clothes to jewellery for both men and women. Browse through a meticulously selected range of wigs, handbags, shoes, and beauty products to complete your new look. Owner Francine frequently travels to Africa to source the best of the best for the community. Customers are often pleasantly surprised by the quality of items available in her store.

L&G Hair Salon and Barber Shop

The first Afghan barber in the greater Brisbane area, the skilled hairdressers here can do it all. Owner Rahmat chose to set up in the Croydon Road Precinct because of its strong multiculturalism but even he didn’t expect the sheer range of haircuts people would request. The barber shop’s signature style is the popular skin fade haircut.

Brighten your Monday mornings with a cup of Vietnamese coffee and a big smile from owner Paul. One of the newest additions to the precinct, Paul’s brew is as authentic as it gets and is more popular than ever. His coffee is described as pure and clean with a great taste.

You can eat your way around the world after a trip to this supermarket, which is chock-full of Southeast Asian grocery staples. It also boasts the biggest range of noodles in Logan. This long-standing local business has called Croydon Road Precinct home for more than 18 years. This grocery sells everything, representing all nations from Africa to India to Afghanistan. It’s an adventure to browse through the aisles of rice, lentils, four, maize and more. There’s also a hefty freezer brimming with delicacies, along with a few aisles of Indian art and home décor.
