Upgrade plans for Greenbank intersection

The Teviot Road and Middle Road intersection is set for a series of upgrades to cater to the expected increase in traffic demand.
Stage one improvements will be delivered in mid-2022, while a new larger roundabout will be built in a second stage of works as part of the Teviot Road upgrade.
A longer-term solution will involve constructing an elevated interchange at the intersection as well as a new bridge over the railway line.
Councillor Natalie Willcocks says these upgrades will make a big difference to traffic flow.
‘I know people are frustrated when travelling through this section of road, because the current roundabout no longer meets the needs of our growing population,’ Cr Willcocks says.
‘That’s why there will be 2 interim projects to improve the current roundabout before the ultimate design is delivered.
Cr Willcocks thanked residents for participating in the community consultation period late last year and says early planning for the road  network around Greenbank State School will get under way this year.
“With our population set to almost double by 2041, we have committed a record investment in roads to keep up with our city’s growth,” Cr Willcocks says.
