Rebuilt boardwalk showcases wetlands wonders

Visitors to Eagleby Wetlands can now better enjoy the surrounding natural environment thanks to an upgrade of the boardwalk network.
The network weaves around and through the popular site, which is home to hundreds of endemic and migrating wildlife species. The wetlands also have local indigenous heritage significance.
More than 160 metres of the wooden boardwalk has been replaced or upgraded, including a section (pictured) which gives a panoramic view of the protected site.
Councillor Karen Murphy says the Eagleby Wetlands are an important environment and tourism destination.
‘The upgraded boardwalk allows our community and visitors to safely access and enjoy the Wetlands,’ she says.
‘This is just the beginning of some big plans we have to ensure this special part of our city is protected and enhanced for generations to come.’
