Logan Central icon gets new tenant

The 50-year-old Ben Matthews Playground has undergone a facelift with an upgrade to its community facilities.

Amputees and Family Support Group (AFSG) recently made the move to the newly refurbished Ellen Street facilities in Logan Central.

The group will now host more wheelchair and accessibility-friendly events and programs from the site.

With 3,221 referrals from Queensland Government agencies each year, AFSG takes on the advisory and support role for Queenslanders who lose limbs through birth, illness or accidents.

Centre Manager Lynda Foulis thanks residents of Division 2 for supporting the group’s move to the improved facilities.

‘We are very grateful for the support of the Councillor (Teresa Lane) and ratepayers for this opportunity,’ Lynda says.

‘As the only group that does this in Queensland, having a stand-alone facility will improve services for those who need it most.’
