Community at the heart of new centre

The Cronulla Park Indoor Sports Centre has joined the ranks of the best sporting facilities in the City of Logan – but it’s so much more than that.
Councillor Mindy Russell says the multi-purpose venue, which opened late last year, is already a popular place for the community to connect, learn and relax.
‘One of the key features of the centre is the outside school hours care service and wide range of youth programs, which have already been a great support to local families,’ Cr Russell says.
The centre is managed by the Logan PCYC.
A range of youth and community programs are held at the venue, while several rooms of different sizes are available for hire.
For the fitness fanatics, the centre includes a 24-hour gym and a boxing ring.
It also has a large gymnastics facility built to regional standards.
‘The huge gymnastics venue is the first thing you notice as you walk through the doors,’ Cr Russell says.
‘The second thing is the many talented young gymnasts already achieving amazing things in this new space.
‘It’s certainly easy to imagine that some of Queensland’s next Olympians will come from here in the City of Logan.’
The Cronulla Park Indoor Sports Centre is on the corner of Kingston Road and Compton Road in Slacks Creek.
