Good signs ahead for iconic koala mural

An institution in Division 8 is on the way back.
Works are nearing completion to repair and repaint a well-known entry sign on Bayliss Rd, Heritage Park, after a traffic accident damaged the structure last year.
The blockwork sign, which featured a mural depicting a koala, was one of 2 built when the area was developed in the late 1980s.
Councillor Jacob Heremaia says repairs have been completed and a new mural won’t be far away.
‘This mural is well-loved by the community and many people were saddened when it was damaged in August,’ Cr Heremaia says.
‘Division 8 Local Infrastructure Program funding was provided to rebuild the sign as it was structurally unsound after the accident.
‘Unfortunately, the old sign had just been painted with fresh new colours, which had been well-received by locals.

‘The rebuilt sign is now a blank canvas ready for repainting and I can’t wait to see the new mural.
‘I’m excited that our beloved koala will be back to welcome people into this beautiful part of Division 8.’
