Mustangs riding high on facility upgrades

Mustangs Brothers Rugby League Football Club is ready and raring for the 2022 rugby league season after a series of facility upgrades.
Improvements at the Chambers Flat club include a re-turfed field, a lighting upgrade and a new irrigation system with large capacity holding tanks.
Councillor Scott Bannan welcomed Local Infrastructure Program (LIP) funding for a security gate and a surveillance camera overlooking the community hall and carpark.
The works have come at an ideal time for the growing club.
‘The mighty Mustangs have gone from strength to strength in recent years,’ Cr Bannan says.

‘I wanted to help the club keep its grounds and its young kids safer, so we can all get out there and enjoy some top-notch rugby league.’
A further $80,000 of LIP funding was provided so the proudly sunsmart club could install shade sails and complete concreting.
Mustangs president Geoff Burr says the club’s committee, including treasurer Nicci Martin and secretary Belinda Burr has worked hard to future-proof Mustangs RLFC.
The club appreciates Cr Bannan’s efforts.

‘He’s just got sport in his blood and he knows it’s good for kids,’ Geoff says.
He says Mustangs Brothers RLFC is also focussed on youth development.

The club runs regular mental health seminars and this year has provided office facilities for the Reclink and Link and Launch employment services.
‘We use rugby league as a stepping stone to just make better human beings in the Logan area,’ Geoff says.
