Logan kerbside clean-up - what you need to know
If that old mattress or broken washing machine is taking up space and you don’t know how to get rid of them correctly, then take a look at when Logan City Council’s kerbside clean-up service is heading to your suburb.
Kerbside clean-up is designed to help make big clean-ups much easier for local residents.
Instead of struggling to fit bulky items into your regular bin for collection, you can place them neatly on your kerb and let Council take care of the rest.
This service is designed to help keep neighbourhoods tidy while making it simple to dispose of large household items. It also reminds everyone to think about the environment by reusing or recycling items when possible before putting them out for collection.
This service runs across all suburbs that already receive regular waste collection, making it easier for people to clear out unwanted items from their homes.
Each suburb is given a specific collection time over a two-week period. Before collection begins, residents receive a flyer with their exact date so they can plan ahead. View the latest Logan City Council Kerbside clean-up schedule.
You can place a 2 cubic metre pile (2 metres long, 1 metre wide and 1 metre high) of bulky items on the kerb by 6 am on the first day of the scheduled collection. You can put things out on the weekend before, but not earlier than one week before your collection date.
There are 2 main types of waste accepted: hard waste and green waste.
Hard waste includes items like furniture, wood products, mattresses, carpets, and some small building materials such as timber or tiles. Appliances like washing machines and dishwashers can also be collected, but doors must be removed.
Green waste includes things like tree branches, shrubs, and palm fronds. These must be cut into pieces no longer than 1 metre and tied into bundles. Grass and leaves should be placed in cardboard boxes, not plastic bags, so they can be handled safely and turned into compost. Read here for Items we DO accept.
There are also important rules about how much waste you can put out, such each item weighing less than 25 kilograms. Read here for How and where to place items.
Some items are not allowed in the kerbside clean-up. These include dangerous or harmful items like batteries, chemicals, tyres, gas cylinders, and anything containing glass. Food waste and items that could attract pests are also banned. These rules help protect both the environment and collection workers. Read here for Items we do NOT accept.
It is important to know that most collected items will go to landfill and not be recycled. Because of this, residents are encouraged to donate usable items or take recyclables to council facilities or local charities if possible.
By following these simple rules, Logan residents can use the kerbside clean-up service safely and effectively while helping keep their neighbourhoods clean.
