Sassy seniors lead the Christmas cheers
With the countdown to the holidays now in full swing, a group of active seniors in Waterford is ready to lead local celebrations.
Residents from the River Glen Haven over-50s lifestyle and retirement village have a special Christmas dinner and social celebration planned for Saturday, 7 December. Around 110 residents are expected, with a possible appearance by Santa and Mrs Claus.
The River Glen Haven group has previous good form in knowing how to party. Six lucky residents were guests of Division 5 Councillor Paul Jackson at Logan City Council’s Seniors Big Day Out Concert at the Logan Entertainment Centre in October.
‘I learned from my regular Q&A sessions at River Glen Haven that many residents had missed out on attending this much-loved local event in previous years,’ Cr Jackson says.
‘So I got a table together and we had a wonderful time. I am sure their Christmas party will be another fun event and I am delighted to have donated a special lucky door prize.’
Maureen Bradburn says the Seniors Big Day Out was one of the highlights of the year for those River Glen Haven residents who sat on Cr Jackson’s table for the concert.
‘The music was our vintage and we loved it,’ Maureen says.
Christmas is one of a number of special holidays that will be celebrated across Division 5.
Others include Bodhi Day (Buddhism – 8 Dec) and Hanukkah (Judaism – 25 Dec to 2 Jan).
