Diving towards Olympics dream
Year 9 student Lincoln Eden, of Springwood, has turned his passion for gymnastics into diving headfirst towards an Olympics dream for 2032.
Already a Junior Elite Diver, Lincoln recently won gold in all individual events and silver in ‘mixed synchro’ at the School Sport Australian Aquatic Games last year, held at the Sleeman Sports Complex, Chandler.
While his long-term goals include representing Australia at the Olympics or becoming a contracted Red Bull High Diver, Lincoln’s current focus is on achieving a Diving Australia contract.
‘When I was 10, I was a high-level gymnast and attended a Talent I.D. Day, where I was offered a position in the National Talent Program with Brisbane Diving (now QAS Diving),’ Lincoln says.
‘I love learning new dives and the adrenaline of performing high-level dives in front of a crowd.’
Lincoln’s parents say it’s inspiring to see their son so committed to the sport.
‘He trains 6 days a week with Chandler Diving Club and approaches every session with enthusiasm and determination,’ his mum Laura says.
