Public invite to paint cubby for harmony

Logan kids are learning how to all get along, each and every day through play at early childhood centres throughout the city.

So to celebrate Harmony Week held during March, a Springwood centre is taking their children’s talents to the public and hoping other families will join them, in the spirit of community harmony.

Bask Early Learning Springwood is hosting the Harmony Week community initiative from Thursday 27 March to Saturday 29 March – a creative stall with a cubby house at the Logan Hyperdome.

Bask Early Learning’s Operations Support Coordinator Danii McGrath says the stall will allow community members to contribute their artistic talents by helping decorate a cubby house.

‘This collaborative art project aims to celebrate creativity and community spirit while promoting inclusivity in line with Harmony Week,’ Danii says.

It is hoped many community members will drop by the stall and watch as the cubby house receives its colours and patterns, or join in with their own artistic contribution.

‘Once completed, the decorated cubby house will become a permanent part of our playground, offering our children a daily reminder of the community’s involvement and support,’ Danii says.

Other Harmony Week events around the City of Logan include ‘Harmony Week Poetry with Justin Geange’ at The Lounge, Logan Central Library, Friday 21 March, 11 am.

This special free event for those 16 and older, will celebrate the power of poetry to promote inclusiveness, respect, and belonging.

Justin is an award-winning mental health advocate and has been a semi-finalist on Australia’s Got Talent. He is also a published poet and winner of the Logan heat and Queensland finals of the Australian Poetry Slam. To Book visit Harmony Week poetry with Justin Geange | Logan Libraries.
