Where to beat the heat in Logan
You don’t need to stay at home to keep cool this summer, with plenty of ways to keep the temperatures down around City of Logan. Here’s our pick of fun activities to beat the heat.
Splash around at a water park
Logan is home to some of the coolest playgrounds with water play that kids (and adults!) will love — check out free water play parks in Logan.
If you’re looking for more adrenaline, escape to Bayside Wake Park where water enthusiasts can wakeboard, kneeboard, or tube.
Take a dip in a pool
Now that summer is in full swing, grab your swimmers and head to Beenleigh Aquatic Centre or Logan North Aquatic Centre. From kiddie pools with fountains to Olympic-sized pools, there’s something for everyone.
Explore the great indoors
Escape the heat into air-conditioned comfort at these Council venues. Admire the latest exhibitions at Logan Art Gallery, read some books or sign up for a workshop at your local library, enjoy a show at Logan Entertainment Centre or learn more about our city’s contemporary social history at the Living Museum of Logan.
Pat and play with a shark and ray
Learn about marine animals, get in the water, and play with sharks and stingrays at Shark and Ray Gardens.
Sip on a summer staple
If it’s too hot to move, pull up a seat at your local café for a relaxing day out. Perhaps sip on a fresh juice or glass of iced coffee or macha at some of our city’s most beloved cafes like Underwood’s Bake It, or venture out to find new cafes and new restaurants in Logan, such as the new dessert cafe THR33 Coffee at Rochedale South with its own ice-cream and dessert bar (main photo). Friends and family can also gather to make a day out of it at one of the best brunch spots in Logan.
Run, jump, and dance indoors
Loganholme’s Chipmunks Playland features multi-level structures and a mega slide that will keep your little ones cool and entertained all day. If you’re looking for more thrills, head to Underwood’s Area 51 where adults can join in on the fun. You can also lace up your skates for a session at Skate Paradise, which also offers an accessible experience for people with disability.
Relax and unwind at a day spa
Unwind with crystal magnesium infused spas, outdoor showers and saltwater swimming pools at Loganholme’s Muse Bath House.
Enjoy a refreshing treat
Nothing beats an ice-cold drink on a hot summer day – our favourites include bubble teas from Underwood’s Excellent Cup and icy craft beers from Underwood’s Monkey Tree Brewery. If those don’t tickle your fancy, check out where to get desserts in Logan.
Knock down some pins
Logan City Tenpin is for anyone searching for fun and a break from the heat. This family-friendly bowling alley has it all: bumper cars, amusement machines and an on-site café for when you need to refuel.
Spend a day at a shopping centre
Cool off, watch a movie, or window shop at air-conditioned centres such as Logan Hyperdome or Browns Plains Grand Plaza.
