The year nine student is taking part in Artwaves 2023, Logan and adjacent areas secondary schools art exhibition which showcases the creative excellence of young artists from 28 of the region’s schools.

This year’s annual exhibition from Friday, September 8 to Saturday, October 14 features artworks by 243 students from years seven to 12.

It is the second year Feeza,14, from Logan Central has participated in Artwaves.

“I felt shocked. I didn’t expect my artwork to be chosen,” she said.

Feeza’s design this year was created as part of an art unit focused on identity and culture.

Two Sides of the Same Coin depicts one person in two different universes who wishes to be the other.

The surreal painting in acrylic and marker pen on canvas depicts a carefree spirited character afloat in a country landscape in one universe and as a businesswoman within a city setting in the other.

Feeza has always been passionate about drawing.

She has an interest in fashion as a future career and hopes to undertake further studying in this field.

Lifestyle Chair Councillor Tony Hall said it was wonderful to see the talent displayed through Artwaves by students such as Feeza.

Artwaves highlights the creativity of the City of Logan’s next generation of local artists and recognises the role teachers and parents play to nurture their creativity,” Cr Hall said.

“I congratulate this year’s participants on their innovative and thought-provoking works.”
