Australian Poetry Slam 2026 - Logan heat

Calling all poets and performance lovers!

Have you ever wanted to change the world with your words or use your poems to spark new dreams?  Think you’ve got what it takes to become Australia’s next poetry slam champion?

All you need is an original poem and 2 minutes on the mic to win over your audience.

Two competitors will win the chance to compete at the Queensland State Finals.

By throwing your ideas into the slam-storm, you could be chosen as the 2026 Australian Poetry Slam-bassador and offered an international writers’ festival tour worth approximately $20,000.

Internationally-recognised spoken word artist and poet Huda the Goddess will be the MC and guest performer.

The first 20 to register online or sign-up in person will compete. 
Doors open/poet sign-up at: 6:30 pm.
Slam begins at 7 pm.

For ages 13+ and adults. (See requirements and content warning below).

Notes & Requirements

Content warning: Poetry Slam content may not be suitable for children. It may contain coarse language and adult themes. Competitors or audience members under 16 must be accompanied by a parent/carer. All attendees are required to book in.

The Wilbur Street Youth Centre is located next to Logan Central Library.

Snacks and drinks available for purchase at the Wilbur Street Youth Centre, open 7 pm to 8:30 pm.

We ask you to please stay at home on the day of the event/session if you are unwell.
