Share your story of Logan’s resilience

Following Cyclone Alfred in March 2025, Logan City Council launched the Stories of Resilience Project to capture and celebrate the acts of kindness, courage and connection that helped the community through the disaster.

Rather than focusing on what was damaged, the project aims to highlight what made Logan stronger and use those lessons to support future disaster planning and community recovery.

With just one month left before the Stories of Resilience Have Your Say campaign closes on Monday 31 August, residents affected by Cyclone Alfred are encouraged to share their experiences and help build a lasting record of Logan’s resilience.

Council is looking for stories of neighbours helping neighbours, volunteers lending a hand, community organisations stepping up, or disaster management and emergency services making a real difference during Cyclone Alfred.

Maybe a neighbour checked in from next door when the power went out. Perhaps a local sporting club opened its doors, volunteers delivered supplies, or a community group provided support when it was needed most.

Residents might have witnessed young people helping with clean-up efforts or experienced their first cyclone and found comfort in the support of those around them. These are exactly the kinds of stories Council wants to hear and share.

Whether members of the community received support or provided it, these stories could help inspire others and inform future disaster preparedness and recovery efforts.

The project will collect stories from across the Logan community to better understand what helped people cope, adapt and recover. It is hoped these insights will help strengthen community connections and contribute to future emergency planning.

Written stories, photos, social media posts, podcast interviews and other memories from the event can be submitted.

If someone prefers not to share their experience themselves, a family member, friend or community representative can tell the story on their behalf.

By sharing what helped people get through Cyclone Alfred, these stories can help celebrate the people who made a difference and contribute to a stronger, more resilient Logan.

The Stories of Resilience Project is supported through assistance provided by the Queensland and Federal Government through the jointly funded Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangements.
