More than 250 school holiday activities in Logan December-January 2025-2026

Children in the City of Logan can access more than 250 different school holiday activities in December and January through Logan Libraries, the KRANK School Holiday program and Logan Art Gallery.

Activities range from puppet shows, Christmas craft and artist workshops to boxing cardio workouts, bee keeping and phone photography sessions.

Mayor Jon Raven says Logan City Council had loads of boredom-busting activities planned.

‘Free and low-cost activities are a big focus of our holiday program,’ Mayor Raven says.

‘After a big year at school, Logan kids and teens are ready to let their hair down and we have lots of safe and fun things for them to try.’

KRANK

The next KRANK program for kids and teens aged 5 to 17 years will run from 10 to 25 January.

Bookings open from 9 am on Monday, 15 December for the popular program, so parents are encouraged to book early.

Logan Libraries

More than 80 free events will run at Logan Libraries from 15 December to 23 January.

Libraries are located at: Beenleigh, Greenbank, Jimboomba, Logan Central, Logan Hyperdome, Logan North, Logan Village, Logan West, Marsden. View details of each location here Hours & Locations – Logan City Council Libraries.

Activities include live performances of Our planet at play with Larrikin Puppets, robotics and coding sessions, local artist workshops with Henna/Mehendi art and feather creations, drop-in activities, games, and maker space craft activities for teens and kids, including everything from braided wristbands to puppet making.

Families can also join the annual Summer Reading Club over December and January or borrow Switch or PS5 games, board games, puzzles or comics and manga titles to be entertained all summer long.

Logan Art Gallery

Learn how to make paper stars and snowflakes and cardboard, wool and twig Christmas trees at a free drop-in Christmas craft art session at Logan Art Gallery, located at Logan Central, from 10 am to 2 pm on 20 December.

A recycled plastic bottle art workshop will be led by exhibiting artist Shirley Yumala Collins from 11.30am to 1.30pm on December 13. From 2pm, Shirley will also take participants on a guided tour through her exhibition Grandmothers currently on display.

There will also be a free family day event on January 10 from 10am to 12pm where artist Mary Elizabeth Barron will teach how plastic bags can be recycled to create feathers.

A day of artistic discovery with artist Joe Furlonger from 9am to 2pm on January 11 is open to older teens and adults and will include visits to both Logan and Redland art galleries.

In January, Logan Art Gallery will also host the exhibition, KIDS ON TOUR: Vipoo Srivilasa: Express Yourself, from the Queensland Art Gallery I Gallery of Modern Art (QAGOMA).

Featuring works by Thai-born, Melbourne-based ceramic artist Srivilasa, the exhibition will run alongside free art activities from 10 am to 2 pm from 15 to 17 January.

The Living Museum of Logan

Free all-ages workshops to create porcelain clay skulls with artist Christina Lowry will be held from 10 am on Wednesday, 10 December at the Living Museum of Logan, located at the Kingston Butter Factory, Kingston.

The skulls created will later become part of a larger exhibition at Victoria’s Kingston Arts Centre.

There will also be free family festive holiday drop-in art and craft activities from 10 am to 4 pm on 19 and 20 December.

Children aged from 12 to 17 years will also be able to create personalised vision boards at a free workshop on 10 January, using magazines, collage materials and mixed media.

Free outdoor activities to explore

Culture and heritage locations to visit
From historic homesteads to living museums and ornate temples, the City of Logan is home to world-class cultural and heritage attractions that little kids (and big kids) will love. Stroll through tranquil gardens and marvel at contemporary art from around the globe, nibble on scones or cupcakes and learn about the city’s social history, or spend an afternoon immersed in Logan’s pioneering past, or learning Indigenous history.

Daisy Hill Koala Centre
A haven amongst eucalyptus trees with interactive displays and an outdoor koala enclosure, learn about koalas and their conservation.

Parks in Logan
Your kids won’t want to leave these playgrounds with massive dinosaur play structures, so pack a picnic or set up a barbecue at one of these lush parks.

Berrinba Wetlands
A stunning and educational experience, explore the great outdoors right in your own backyard and learn more through interactive displays. With 8.5 kilometres of walkways and bike tracks, pack a picnic, prep a barbecue or go on a hike.

Daisy Hill Conservation Park
Explore eucalypt forests and stunning wetlands by foot on the designated walking trails or bring along your leashed pup on the shared trails. There are also mountain biking trails and horseriding trails.
