Christmas charity in Logan

From those coordinating toy drives to locals cooking up meals and creating care packages, there’s plenty of people in Logan working hard to help make the festive season a little brighter for those doing it tough. 

If you’d like to be part of a movement for good this Christmas, we’ve compiled a list of local organisations below. Head to each link for more details about the appeals. 

Be an Elf invites the community to donate items from a child’s wish list to give them the magical Christmas they deserve. 

Beenleigh and Neighbours community pantry puts together Christmas hampers of gifts and food for the local community. 

Beyond Barriers provides care packages to people who are homeless or facing challenging times.  

Defenders for Hope is  running its annual Christmas drive again this year. Last year, the team provided more than 300 local Logan kids with presents, and this year, will once more be distributing Christmas cheer to people who have experienced domestic violence, sharing donated gifts among 8 shelters. Take part in the Adopt A Family campaign to share some joy. 

Dunamis Church Yarrabilba is running its annual Christmas Hamper Appeal and seeking donations, which will be matched dollar for dollar by local business sponsors. All funds go towards brightening the festive season for local families. 

Grateful Givers is seeking sanitary items, toiletries, dry foods, and vouchers for its  work with the homeless population across Logan and Brisbane. It also welcomes items like Christmas cards, backpacks, and bags.  

Guardians of Tomorrow are seeking new and gently used toy for their Christmas drive. The Guardian team is partnering with local kindies to ensure all children have something to open on Christmas morning.

Help needed for the homeless is a regular Christmas appeal started by 12-year-old Lilly, who makes up care and gift packs to distribute Christmas gifts across Logan and Brisbane. Care packs can include toiletries, and Christmas gifts for kids and adults are accepted and distributed. 

Impact Church Angel Tree and Food Hampers accept goods and food donations.  For the Angel Tree, pick up a tag from the Impact Church front desk and go shopping; to donate to the hampers, take non-perishable food items to the church in Slacks Creek. 

Lighthouse Christmas Appeal – Help Lighthouse in its mission to grant the wishes of 400 Logan kids who have made their Christmas wish lists, and just need some local Santa’s Little Helpers to fulfil those wishes. 

Logan Chamber of Commerce’s December meeting will also be a time to collect toys for its  annual Toy Drive, put together in collaboration with emergency services in Logan. If you’re a business owner in Logan and want to donate, head to the link to find out how. 

Logan East Community Neighbourhood Centre is seeking support for its annual tory drive. The organisation is eeking new toys, Christmas decorations and non-perishable food for its hampers.  

STAR Community Services Annual Secret Santa Appeal – Donate online or drop off gifts or food at one of a range of Logan locations listed on the organisation’s website. 

Touch of Hope’s Christmas hamper appeal is focusing on filling Christmas pantries with delicious goodies. Check out its list of foods and drop off points at the link.
